Mottled Ducks Part 2

continued from prior post yesterday
Mr and Ms Quacker (in the scupper) lit in the pool at 7:30 pm and the fun began when they were still in the pool as we waited for daylight for my AM walk.
Mama sat in the chair and I wandering around, never once even looking at the swimming ducks. She was flabbergasted that I ignored them.

Mama ooohed, ahhhhhed and laughed out loud. The quackers were mating, swimming, bathing, and having a blast. We watched until daybreak and then after my walk, at 7:30, they were still in the pool
Mama said to Daddy, they can't stay here, if they make a nest for the babies, they might be in danger from Beau, even though he is ignoring them now.
Daddy said lets shoo them out, HA HA HA
They did climb out of the pool but refused to leave. At 9 am they were back in the pool and mama looked on line and called a wildlife rescue number for migratory birds.
She asked if it is ok to shoo them out, she did not want to stress them.
The lady had a great time laughing with Mama and said they had them in their pool for 3 weeks last summer and yes, its ok to shoo them.

Let the Shooing Begin! no matter what da pawrentz did, they would not leave, Mama said maybe they can't fly, Daddy said then how did they get in the fenced yard?
hummmm
Mama got two big metal spoons and started banging them and yelling shoot and it woke up the three pitt bulls next door and they raised a ruckus and the ducks would not leave.
Daddy said, Lets open the drive through gates and shoo them in the front yard.
Mama said, they might get run over.
Daddy opened the gates and they shooed them herding them like herd dogs, hissing and shooing at them.
They waddeled through the gate and Mama shut the gates and
burst out laughing.
With a big fuss, a much larger female came running to them, quacking and greeting them and soon there were 5 of them.
they went ON THE FRONT PORCH.

Mama went inside opened the door and SHOO/ HISSED
The two from our pool took off flying like feathered tanks, barely clearing the cars on the street and were off into the wild blue yonder.
On Friday Morning, there was yet another one, not the same two in the pool by himself.
He only stayed a few minutes and flew away.
Mama thinks Mr and Ms Quacker must have telegraphed him to get out of Dodge, the people in the house are crazay.
Mama says they are soooo precious! I say, are you kidding me? I AM THE PRECIOUS in this house.

You will never guess what they are staring at. I will tell you. They were watching either a small frog or bugs on the side of the pool. Mama missed the grabbing of whatever the male grabbed. He did not share with his wife.

What a story! They sure loved the Mad One's Duck Hotel. I would have been tempted to leave them in the yard and watch you, Beau, every second you are out. But Mama did her duty and protected them from harm.

Mama did the right thing, Beau; even if you were not bothered by the visitors, that pool would soon become very messy indeed! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

oooh what a super adventure... your mama waked the dog in da hood and athey all helped to chase da quackers away... you can use gun noises from youtube, we use them to chase the pigeons away (works only one time, then they know it is no danger) ;O)

Hello, Beau,
I enjoyed reading about your duck visitors, they are cute ducks. It would be funny to watch your Mama and Daddy herding the ducks out of your yard. I am glad they did not leave any ducklings behind. HUGS, have a happy day!

You are such a good boy, Beau. We think it would have been fun to see if they made a nest and had babies in your yard, but we understand the difficulty that might bring. It also might have crimped your dad's swimming routine a bit too. BOL!

Yes, it was the right thing to do Beau, to protect this sweet little family. They are adorable but have no fear, you will always be their star.

Both precious - in different categories. paw smacks Mr T (who has had to learn that lesson. Mr T is most precious feline category; then there are precious birds, precious piglets, precious ponies, precious small furry things....)

We have resident geese that live a few blocks over from our house.
Fortunately they just fly over our house and never land..Now that would be a mess. Pretty but not what we want in our yard.
Good job Beau on ignoring them and letting Mama do her hissing and clanging of the spoons. That's much more entertaining to watch.

Precious, indeed! I'd have loved to see y'all banging and shoo-ing. (Beau, did you think your momma and daddy were loco?) I wish someone had been there to film the whole thing.

The last time I shoo-ed anything was a big old ugly buzzard in the empty lot next door.

Better to shoo them out with spoons that have Elmer Fudd show up thinking it's duck season!
