Daddy spends an hour or two every day due to the monsoon rains and lots of wind blowing leaves in the pool and dirt and trash... 

Day Eight part 4

 

Mama was in her chair, Daddy was in his, for half and hour I wandered past their legs, I stopped once in a while to get my furs ruffled and petted, but this time was special and Mama and Daddy laughed and laughed. Just wait, you will see why.

I LEAPED INTO THE AIR AND SNAPPED A BEE AND SWALLOWED IT. Daddy laughed, Mama Did not. She said Don't Laugh it could sting his mouth and make him swell up and choke to death.
Always Always My Mama Frets over me.
I AM FINE Daddy said so...

Day Eight part 3

 

Mama was shooting blind with sun glare on screen and accidently split me into pieces.

she said that is fine with her, it gives her more to love on

About yesterday and ME on Nov 9th

My tail is wagging all round and round,

Mama's Beau is back in town!

The peeps are at the Surgeons Office today for Daddy's 3 month check up on his knee and to talk about another new knee. 

Mama forgot today is Veterans day and borrowed this from Zoolatry, when she read Brians post and it reminded her. Thank you Zoolatry and Brian.

Day Eight part 2

 

Shout Hallelujah for the Perfect Poop done Tuesday Evening 5 PM!

Day 9 which was yesterday was great. SHE took zero photos of me, I slept and ate dog food and ate people food and lollygagged with my Mama and Daddy.

Remember the 87 photos Mama took on Day 8, my first good day? a few more for you. I felt so good I laid in the sun and got really hot, then I laid in the shade. I felt so good after feeling so bad

the Temps were perfect, just right, no hot and not cold.

I laid in the shade a long time, then I wandered, I went back and laid in the shade the other direction, then I wandered again. Can you guess what Mama was doing?

Day Eight update

 

On Day 7 of ACL Hell,  I was just a shadow of my self, 

yesterday on Day 8, my 5 am BM was still liquid butt better, mama said ITS" FIRMER!

Daddy said Beau you are going to have REAL food for breakfast,

 Mama gave me meds in a spoon of the yummy can.

I did my normal stuff, you know seeking attention, leaning on legs, sleeping on sofa, no pacing, no pain, Mama kept kissing me and saying welcome back to being a real dog

I got better and better all day and no BM until 5 pm, which look like pudding and I wanted to eat it. 

Mama said NO...

We ate lunch and went out side and Mama took 87 thousand photos (27 mama says) doing blind shots because she could not see the screen in the sun.

The pawrentz sat in the sun, I laid in the sun until I got to hot and moved to the shade, with pawparazzi following.

I AM BAAACK! I slept most of the day and  from 5 PM all night until 3:34 and now at 6 am have not had a BM, after days of 4 or 5 per hour.

 Day 9 today I woowooed for my breakfast for first time in 8 days, I scoffed up the dry food, swallowed my pain pills, dipped in peanut butter. I have not Talked since Monday and today is Tuesday

Mama kept saying HE TALKED! He Talked!! not sure why, I don't remember not talking.

I have now been kissed 87 thousand times in 24 hours.. more photos to follow

Day Six of X Ray Nightmare

 

I threw up at 7 pm on Sunday night, and I still have diarrhea today which is 6 days since my xrays that made me so sick. I was healthy except for a limp when  I went in and well,

Sick As A Dog since I came home.

Daddy gave me 1/2 cup of dry dog food today instead of the yummy canned stuff. We shall see what happens.

Since Mama and I can't walk together she took us into PicMonkey and found a place in their library that we would love to walk. Can you find what's different in these two photos?

Sandra and Robert,

Beau's examination and images have been evaluated and his findings formulated.  Beau's got several issues of concern.  The primary cause of his R rear leg lameness is due to his anterior cruciate ligament.  Like a football player, Beau's ACL is injured and it's painful to walk due to movement of his knee.  His L knee is not great but it's relatively normal and functional.  Beau's hips add to the challenges.  He has dysplasia -- neither of his hip joints have smoothly operating parts.  The ball part of the joint does not sit nicely within the socket part of the joint.  Specifically, the L hip is subluxated or sits a little outside of the joint.  Both are likely somewhat discomforting and, again, complicate the issue with this R knee.

Options may be limited.  For large breed dogs like Beau, surgery for the knee is the recognized gold standard.  But, his other problems may preclude him from being a good candidate for such surgery or complicate the healing process.  Remember, while his R leg heals from surgery, he's got to rely on his L leg to support him and it's not in the best of shape/condition to do that.

Inevitably, most such injuries eventually heal through scarring and contraction.  It's not an easy path -- nor a short path -- but, given time and patience and the necessary mediations, most dogs with ACL injuries will eventually heal.  

My recommendations for Beau if you choose not to pursue a surgical consult (and I can refer you to any number of surgeons in the area for a better idea of what options are available): time, rest, restricted activity; a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug like meloxicam; an analgesic like gabapentin and a joint formula (GAG product) for supporting joint remodeling and physical therapy (water therapy, massage, or laser therapy).

He is home

He's home! We picked him up at 12:45. And he came in the door and leaned up against my leg and I petted him and he collapsed on the floor and he's snoring logs. They said he would probably sleep for a couple of hours but he was alert Bob had to pick him up to get him in the car which was a struggle. We won't know anything until the doctor has time to sit down and come up with the diagnosis and then he'll either call or email
