Fire Safety Plan

We have a new sign in our window. When Daddy painted the house, there was a sticker on the front door that said Please Save Our Dogs and on it was My name and a phone number, and it said One dog in house. She ordered a new one for our Window. You can Guess where she ordered from.

Mama is the Queen of What If's and the CEO of Make a Plan for Everything.

What would you do if you woke up to fire? Do you have a PLAN?

Leashes in every room, so I can't run away. She has 3 by the bedroom window because they had 3 dogs at one time.

She has chair that can be shoved under the window to assist with shoving 83 pounds of Handsome Dog through the window. All 3 of us will fit the part that opens. And they all do open.

She refused to live in a house that doesn't allow for climbing out a window and at least 2 doors.

We have Three doors Seven Windows not counting bathroom windows which are useless.

I also have a go bag in the car, with a bottle of water, a small bag of food and extra leash.

I forgot to tell you, the plan fits Cats, Birds, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs. The sticker has a place to check off what is inside the house.

Mama Here, Don't Wait to See the Fire, Plan Ahead. It's Hurricane Season here, and I am stocking supplies.
If you have never thought about Fire Safety, click here to Read Up on it
all the things to watch for are listed and
IF You ARE  A Senior this is important.
Be alert; if you are sleepy or have consumed alcohol, don’t use the oven or stovetop
Stay in the kitchen while you are frying, grilling, boiling or broiling food
When simmering, baking or roasting, check the food regularly, remain in the kitchen while cooking and use a timer
Keep anything that can catch fire away from your stovetop

This is all great advice! Some of it is just logic, yet many people will have never thought of them. Mama is The Princess Of Preparedness.

It's fire season around here so I have my stuff packed if we have to evacuate. I cook only with the microwave or InstantPot, so they shut themselves off when they're done. We also have smoke alarms in most rooms.

Thank you for this post Beau. I asked Gail about my fire safety plan and she confesses that she doesn't have one. And our house has three storeys. I have told her this is something she needs to think about and she has agreed.

GREAT post! I just measured -- the bedroom windowsills sit only 11" off the floor. Unfortunately, I've never tried lifting the window in the 4 years we've lived here; perhaps a drill is in order?

I've a card in my purse about Macie and Grace being home alone; you know, in the event Tom and I are knocked unconscious somewhere. But when we moved from Arizona, I forgot about the window decals. No worries, a 4-pack's in my Amazon cart as we speak.

You have to have a plan and your mom is wise to know what to do. Bravo.

Good info! We really need to revise and rework our fire safety plan, it's inadequate.

F got us an induction stove to reduce stove top fire risk considerably. Candles are on the banned list... good idea about those window stickers for pets indoors. You think of everything Aunty Sandra. Paw smacks to Beau. Mr T

Our Mom always forgets something, and is definitely not the queen of planning. We're good at it though. We plan how to get our supper early, how to escape and run the neighborhood, how to get more treats, how to go for rides -- or not. We will work on getting her to make plans like yours.
