CAT in our yard

We have had record breaking heat all last week. Thursday, May 30, Mama took the photo above at 3 in the afternoon, it says 102. At 8 pm it was still 97 degrees. The next morning, Friday 5/31, we went out the door and around the corner leaving on our daybreak walk.

We walked down by daddy's tractor that has never run in years and as I reached the trash can  I lunged forward and in front of the trash bin, almost pulling Mama down.

There we were nose to nose

this CAT, the one below, appeared on May 25th. you saw it here and a few of you said it looks hungry. Mama saw the neighbor black cat on our walk, twice, but it was a lot bigger.

May 25 visit to backyard and mama put water bowls in shady spots in
front and back yard.

Now the front yard shady space, don't worry the pan will not get hot, this spot gets zero sun and the bowl is insulated on the sides, is a cat watering hole with a side of tuna... She put the bowl out after our walk and we are watching and waiting.

Nothing happened when I lunched, the cat arched its back and stood its ground but made no sound. I backed up and we stood staring at each other. Mama talked kitty talk to it and it cried and talked in meow. We Wait to see what happens. We don't think its feral, it liked Mama's voice and did not mind me. or so it seemed. Cat was only about 10 feet from the bowl...we are getting dry food to leave out. tuna might rot in this heat

PS, she fills the bowl with fresh water twice a day and this morning it was half empty. At least some critter is drinking water... there are not many water holes for critters during drought

that is super nice to offer a drink to thirsty anipals... maybe the kitty loves to be with you? and a black cat can bring lots of good luck... so it is a win win...

Putting out water is a very kind thing to do. The cat will let you know if it needs more.

Hello,
Beau you are such a well behaved doggie. Providing water is a very kind thing to do, the hot weather is terrible for pets to be left outside. HUGS, have a happy day!

That was so good of you to be nice to that kitty, Beau. We know your mom will keep her eyes on it and hopefully it has a home and just wants a little extra attention from you.

This is how we ended up with two kitties. They just showed up and wouldn't leave. You mom is a wonderful person. We all knew that already.

Have a woof woof day and week, Beau. A hug to your mom. ♥

That is very kind of your Mom to leave some water for the cat. We have one that digs hole sin our landscape beds and makes Mom angry. No kitty dares to come inside our fenced area:)

You're a good person, Sandra, for taking care of that kittie. (Of course, I already knew that you are!) I'm glad the cat and Beau didn't get into it. So, thinking about adopting it? Maybe it would be a good friend for Beau.
