As responsible pet parents we all need to be aware of any changes, even slight ones, in our pets. things that are Out of The Normal actions. I am thankful my Mama is da best of all Aware Mamas. She watches what I eat, or don't eat, and how I sleep or don't sleep and now she has noticed I am a little slower getting up and down.
I have dysplasia in my left hip and for 2 years Mama has given me Gabapentin and Meloxicam only 1 a day and ONLY if needed, just like the doctor ordered. She noticed I get up slowly now and that at night I am restless, moving from one bed to another. I think my mama is an empath, she feels what I feel and can tell the second something is OFF
Did she ask the doctor's wife, who is my favorite vet tech, what to do while she was picking up my RX?
Yes, she did. Virginia said he can have Gabapentin every 8 hours instead of 2 a day. Mama tried that and I slept all day and all night. For the past two nights, she put me on Gaba at 5 and 5 and at 7, 1/2 Meloxicam and I did really well. She is saving the 3 for when I just need it and if I sleep all day and night who cares, she can hug me any time she wants to.
She will watch me carefully and do whatever it takes to make me pain free.
You see pets can't say, oh I have a hip ache, I think I will take Ibuprofen.
WE DEPEND ON HUMANS, DON'T LET US SUFFER IN PAIN

Hi Beau, sometimes it's apparently hard for our humans to tell how much pain we're in, especially if we're the stoical type. You are fortunate indeed to have landed with a Mama who watches you so carefully and knows what to do if you are experiencing pain. Gail tells me that she was never quite sure how much discomfort my predecessor Bertie was suffering as his bladder cancer developed, but with the help of the vet, she did her best, and she says I can rest assured she would do the same for me.
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.

Mama is the best because she has had a whole of of experience. It is not easy to tell about pain in pets, because they hide it very well so they will not be prey because they are weak. WONDERFUL that those pills work so well!!!
Absolutely, your momma's an empath. (That's the best kind, you know -- since I'm one, as well.)
You know, I'm seriously thinking of changing vets, b/c he doesn't seem to take Macie Ann's hobbling so seriously. (Nothing showed up on the x-rays.) I don't know that her daily Dasuquin is making any difference, so I may look into the Gabapentin.
"Purrs, prayers and paws together" -- I love that!
Best Mama EVER!!

Sunny and Rosy
We do anything for our babies don't we!! We like to use antinol to help with joint pain, it is anti inflammatory and has great other benefits too...
Your momma is especially tuned in to your needs, Beau. We're glad to hear that changing the timing of your Gabapentin helped you sleep better.
I'm glad mama made the call and is working on a plan that seems to help you.
Aww, Beau, we're all so sorry you have the hip dysplasia. We've heard that can be very painful. But you are in the right home, cause your Mama and Daddy but especially your Mama love you soooooo much! We know she will always take the very best care of you and help you to not hurt.
We are your friends. Lucy and Riley, Xena and Chia who is learning to behave now.
Absolutely Beau, the pain is no fun. Your Mama will always take the best care of you!
I'm so sorry you're having trouble with the pain, Beau, but I'm so glad you have your mama to watch out for you. ❤️
