One if by Land, Two if by Sea

Saturday morning, Mama said, Beau, wake up Baby, I need to do the Sunday Selfie shot, I squinted my eyes and sighed and went back to sleep.
Then I heard her say, that's Ok, this shot is Perfect.

This is my Signalture Sunday Selfie Shot

I heard Mama say to daddy, look, Beau ears are sending a signal.

One If by Land, Two if by Sea!

If you want to know what's happening, just look at me.

I could have been his dog, and ran along by his side, spreading the news with my EAR!

wake Up! Wake Up! The British are Here.

The midnight ride of Paul Revere and his dog Beau,

the story would be much different, you know.

through the night rode Paul Revere.

yes, that is barking that you hear.

And through the night went the cry of alarm

To every Middlesex village and farm,

A bark with a cry of defiance, and not of fear,

Loud Barking in the darkness, a knock at the door,

And a word that shall echo forevermore!

One Ear if by Land, Two Ears if by Sea,

Yes, you can thank Paul Revere and ME.

In a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, called Paul Reveres Ride, Paul Revere arranged to have a signal lit in the Old North Church – one lantern if the British were coming by land and two lanterns if they were coming by sea to make preparations for his ride to alert the local militias and citizens about the impending attack.

Weather ears, we call them. Or air traffic control ears, MOL. A delightful selfie, and by the looks of it, a wonderful snooze, too! 🙂

I remember having to memorize the original poem in grade school, but this is much better. Too cute, momma's adaptation!

I just Googled and learned the Signal Corps is still a thing in the Military. Careful they don't try and recruit you, Beau!

Those ears are wonderful signals!
We here think Dalton could be an assistant ear signaler, as his ears seem to work independently of each other, BOL!!

Great take on that classic poem!
