National Hug Your Hound Day was originally created by Ami Moore, the “Dog Whisperer of Chicago” to remind people of the importance of having a long and lasting bond between a pet and its owner. The day is docketed to be celebrated on the second Sunday of September.

Beau, you know we love you very much but we are not liking that you told our Lady, who is always smooshing on us, that it is an official hug day. We must go hide now. Lee and Phod who don't love hugs.

Our girls love to be hugged (one more than the other) ... but wouldn't it be a great initiative for folks to go around to their nearest animal shelter and give those poor babies a hug.
