Dear Big Boy of Mixed Heritage, I still tear up each time I look at your beautiful face and eyes and will never forget you until I am over that bridge with you.
At the shelter Oct of 2018 you climbed in my lap when I sat on the bench and
instantly became my
Sweet Sheriff Big.
79 pounds of Love!
Ado About nothing is the word MUTT!
I do not like it. I do not use it.
Info found on internet on the word I don't like to use
1. A mutt is any dog that's a combination of different breeds, rather than one identifiable breed.
2. a dog, especially a mongrel.
"a long-haired mutt of doubtful pedigree"
3.Pedigree is any dog whose mother and father are of the same breed and are also purebred. A mutt, by definition, is anything else.
4. Mixed breed dogs, or mutts, have more than 2 breeds in their genetic make-up, sometimes even more than 3 or 4!
All of this is a MOOT POINT to me. A dog is a Dog, God spelled Backwards to most Dog lovers.
My opinion is that Mutt has a negative connotation. It means ugly, unwanted, dirty. Mongrel is the same meaning and I never use that word.
30 dogs and counting in my 79 years and none of my dogs were mutts or mongrels, the word is derogatory to me.
Myra calls her sweet pups, of beautiful mixed heritage.
On all of our dogs' records, it says Mixed Breed. Now known as Mixed Heritage
to prove to you Mutt is not a good word.
I typed Mutt in Bing AI and the words BLOCKED FOR CONTENT came up AI refused to create a photo. I changed the word to Mixed Breed
and here you go.
I rest my case!
Dogs of Mixed Breed now known as Dogs of Mixed Heritage |

I agree!!
When I hear the word I always think, that's me too! And proud of it. But I fully agree "mixed heritage dogs" is a much better description.
I agree also. Big Boy, such a beauty, soulful eyes.
How I wish I'd known beautiful Big Boy better.
Cheers, Gail.
we don't like this word either... also the word mixed ... mixing is something a bar guy can do... its a more than one breed pup... and it's the always unique pup we love... not the papers or the breed(s) ... and we love you big boy... you have a BIG place in our hearts....
We like his sheriff badge. Sooo very cool. We know a culture where dogs of indeterminate mixed heritage are called 'hole in the fence' dogs. Mutt isn't a word that features much in our version of English - but maybe more since language gets globalized by movies and tv.

Yeah, mutt is not a word that I grew up knowing... my dad used to call mixed breeds Heinz 57s... meaning who knew how many ingredients! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
The term mutt was used frequently when I was growing up. That's really something that AI wouldn't recognize the word.
Big Boy was beautiful, he is missed. Love his photo.
Dogs of Mixed Heritage is nice.
Hugs for Beau, have a happy day!
The word has never bothered me (purrsonally) ... even we two-footed critters who walk the earth are mostly "mutts" ... so why not our "best friends"? It almost seems to me to be a slang or muddled speaking of "mother", mudder, mutter ... mutter and fawter. But mostly what comes to mind when thinking of DOGS in the very largest sense are the words of Rudyard Kipling, which I have always loved and feel say so much.
"When the Man waked up, he said, What is Wild Dog doing here?
And the Woman said, His name is not Wild Dog any more, but First Friend,
Because he will be our friend, for always and always and always."
FIRST FRIEND
Oh, those eyes! Mesmerizing, weren't they?
I'm glad you wrote this about the word, Mutt. I don't even like the way it feels on my tongue when I say it.
Big lived his very best life with you...and he enriched your lives too
Hugs cecilia
We like the term "mixed heritage" and are proud to be a couple of examples of just that.
There is a brand of rather high-end dog food in England called Pooch & Mutt! https://www.poochandmutt.co.uk/
Woofs,

"A dog is a dog...God spelled backwards"
100% agreed!
I agree with you.
I know how much you loved Big Boy.
Have a fabulous day and rest of the week, Sandra. Scritches to Beau. ♥
That is so sweet how Big Boy climbed in your lap. I agree that mutt is not a nice word.
I tell you what - we had a mutt - or mixed breed - and we loved him so much!!
Your sweet Big was really a special one and we miss him being around and about too.
Oh, precious Big. I'm sitting here trying not to cry. I'm glad AI has that programming. I've got three dogs of mixed heritage, and soon we will know what Lucy's is! (Will share when I get the results.)
