Raccoon Mania for Mama, started back in 2014 when Angel Jake was attacked and had a horrid fight with a pregnant mother Raccoon, at 4 am in the morning. since then, about a dozen sightings not worth of a post. This year alone we have seen them or pawprints of them about 5 times.
Sunday at 10:30 AM, mama was sitting in the back yard with her camera that doesn't work well, trying to figure out Why.
She heard a loud scream, several louder screams and the Oak tree in the backyard of our neighbor, she saw what looked like a small brown bear. she ran over to look up and there they were, making more baby raccoons. in Broad Daylight.
NO PHOTOS butt Never Fear! Mama has it Under Control.
the reason for the post is Mama has NEVER seen daylight sightings of these raccoons. The male looked exactly like the top left in collage. Maybe 30 pound or more. This one was the biggest she has ever seen and since they can live 25 years this must be the same couple from 2014 Full Grown.
There is no story here, Mama just wants it recorded because she is so afraid one of them will attack me, and I am not a fighter. The fight with Jake and the Female still makes her have nightmares. Daddy wacking him with the shovel to get him off of Jake, Jake snarling, Coon screaming. Daddy grabbed it by the tail and tossed over the fence and it came back and jumped on Jake again. Daddy had to kill it, Mama cried, she thinks Daddy did too but can't admit it, and she kept waiting for Jake or daddy to get rabies. Nothing Happened YET! Dang those daggum Coons!

What a sad and frightening story. It DID act rabid!!
Yikes, when you said screams I thought a neighbor was screaming and I was hoping nothing bad happened. Of course raccoons in a tree making new raccoons right there in broad daylight isn't really a good thing.
That was some scary story about Jake getting attacked.
Hello,
I have seen raccoons in the daylight. I stopped my bird feeding on the deck, The raccoons would eat the food. I didn't want them hanging around close to the house. That is a scary story about Jake. HUGS, have a happy day!
You sure live in a wild place, Beau. Take care!
Woofs,
Ollie
Rabid sounds scary - I have had to have three injections with Rabies vaccine in my life, but F says that now we are back in UK (where there is no rabies) I can be spared any more of those. paw smacks Beau and we hope you have no encounters with rabid coons. Mr T
Whoa that was something I had forgotten about.
Lesson learned a mama raccoon is fierce
Hugs Cecilia
We hope those raccoons stay in the trees and never bother you, Beau. They can be cute but also very dangerous.
I remember that horrid incident!
That's sure strange about them being out (and 'about') in broad daylight. You don't suspect they're rabid, do you?
Oh no. I pray you don't see them again.
I would be worried too since they came out in the daytime!
OMD...We are lucky, we have never seen a raccoon that big!
*shiver* and I hope we never do!

They are mean little critters and this one looks like a very big one. I don't want them around either.
Have a fabulous day. Scritches to handsome Beau. ♥
Wow! That was one mean raccoon! My uncle tried to chase one off his persimmon tree with a broom years ago. The raccoon chased him into his house.
Those critters can be scary. We have some around here that show up at night but they have never messed with our ferals.
I am glad it was not rabid...like Ginny, I sure think it acted it.
