Titivate,

Titivate means "to make (someone or something) neater or more attractive," and is a synonym of spruce up.

Here we go again, with a Word of the Day that is new to Mama.

Mama said, Beau, Come! You need to be titivated.

What is titivated mama?

Titivate, spruce, smarten, and spiff all mean "to make a person or thing neater or more attractive." Titivate often refers to making small additions or alterations in attire ("titivate the costume with sequins and other accessories"), but it can also be used figuratively (as in "titivating the script for Broadway").

Mama said Beau, go titivate yourself!

Beau, the first two make you beautiful, and the third one is hilarious! This is a word I have never heard before! Sounds like something naughty, but is not.

You are beautiful Beau without titivation. It's a word F's mum and grandma used to use, for that meaning, but the way they said it hinted at a kind of waste of time - you know, lipstick on a pig kind of thing. Like it was time wasted achieving nothing of substance. That's Presbytarian families for you.

Titivate was a word much used by my mother. I think it is generally deployed in a semi-ironic way, implying one is not taking the whole business of smartening up too seriously.
Nobby is disinclined to subject himself to any form of titivation (as am I!)]
Cheers, Gail.

As per previous comments, I know the use of this word as being not too serious - but that it is also little used these days. I love that you brought it to life, Beau and did it BEAUtifurly!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

I love you just the way you are, Beau! This post tickles me, but I'm afraid my days of titivating are long gone. 😊
