Her Gotcha day, Feb 22, 2002 |
We found Our Baby Girl at Telesis Rescue, beautiful and badly abused, so badly that she was adopted twice and returned twice to Telesis Rescue.
Beth made us swear if we could not keep her, that we would bring her back to her and she would keep her the rest of her life.
We found her sleeping in a hole in the big pasture full of horses and dogs. Telesis Rescue let their dogs run free on 25 acres.
the first week of our lives together, she would not walk out the door into the yard until we stood back away from it, like she was afraid we would kick or hit her.
After a few days she learned she was safe walking past us out the door.
she cringed everytime we moved our hands or feet or picked up the broom.
We each of us gently tapped her back with the broom and said Woo Woo Woo we love you until she no longer cringed.
She remained with us until she went over the rainbow bridge.
Today Angel Baby wants to confess that when she was the age above, she was not an angel, and she totally destroyed this Elephant Ear that had been there for 14 years.
the Above plant, was killed along with the firecracker bush that lived next to it.
She was the master at digging holes deep and quickly.
Sleeping on it, laying on it, digging, chasing lizards.
She never did what anyone asked, she would not come when called and Bob would take her to the dog park, to play off leash with the other dogs and he stopped because he could not catch her when he was ready to leave.
There were many times that we said out loud to each other, no wonder she was abused.
We may have said to her a few times, do you want to go live with Beth again?
Then we would hug and kiss her.
She turned our life upside down and after three months of chaos, like running out the door and around the neighborhood in front of cars, she was stubborn to the bone, and rarely did anything when asked.
We called Beth and said how do we keep her from running away?
She is going to get hit by a car.
Beth's answer was; GET Another Dog. and we did.
7-year-old Cooper came and saved our lives.
She loved cooper and never ran away again |
We are not sure if it was because she was a FEMALE since she was the only female we ever adopted.

what a wonderful story about love.... thank you to you and bob for accepting a challenge and for all what you did for your girl and for cooper....
She didn't have the best beginning in life but she sure had a good one with you. I'm glad that she had a family who loved her.
Wonderful story about your Baby! I am glad her forever home was with you, Bob and Cooper. HUGS, have a happy day!
Oh, what a wonderful read. There was a neighborhood collie that cringed if I went to sweep the porch. She belonged to friends of ours and the back story on her was she had belonged to a neighbor of theirs out of town and the guy would beat her with whatever was handy. Collies NEVER need beating. (I guess no dog needs beating, but Collies are just so easy to do anything with)
So she started going to our neighbor's house. They eventually moved into town and Lady was coming with them...the neighbor was going to take her from them and Big Mickey told him he would have to come through him first. (We called him Big because he had a son named after him, not because of size.)
Well, coming from abuse, they did not tie or chain her up...the yard was ot fenced..and this was a quiet neighborhood...not much traffic. They both worked and at that time. I was not working every day...she came and stayed with me when I was home during the day...then when I started working, she went and stayed with another neighbor.
She eventually got over a bit of her fear with the broom. She was such a sweetheart.
That anyone would deliberately hurt that girl breaks my heart! Were it not for you and Bob (and Cooper) I hate to think how sad and short her life would have been. Forgetabout Cesar Milan, y'all are the real dog whisperers. Ha!
PS - Are you still in touch with Beth?
Such sweet memories of your Baby Girl even if she was a bit of a devil at times.
BOL BOL BOL they confession is good for the soul.
Hugs cecilia
