"The Eggplant is growing very fast.
It closes at night and reopens in the morning. I think that's pretty cool.
I never thought I would be so excited about a small garden in the backyard"
You can see how small they were a month ago and how big they are now.
The next text said
"The Marigolds have a skunky smell and Zoey has already tried to eat them!!"
Marigolds and mint are for bug repellant and the middle is a big Eggplant
Tomatoes on the left, Green Peppers on the right.

We have a tiny brick edged garden right outside our kitchen door that is just like this! Same size and everything! His is doing really well! Maybe we need to get a skelton to watch over ours.
Hi Zoe, I like the idea of flowers with a skunky smell and thing you should have been allowed to sample those marigolds. Humans really don't appreciate our taking an interest in their gardening activities do they? (See my post today...)

the marigld have the nickname lazy students here... maybe that is because of the smell? LOL

We have never smelled a skunk. If your marigolds are like ours (tagetes) then the smell is not too bad and we don't see what all the fuss is about over skunks. On the other hand I wouldn't eat tagetes marigolds - yuck. Would you (or Zoe) eat a skunk? Tell your human brother that is garden is very impressive. He must enjoy a great climate. Every garden needs something to watch over it - I'll post a picture of our watcher sometime. paw smacks Mr T

Well, Beau boy, you can tell Zoe that marigolds are good salad foods - in fact, you can tell your hubrother that! Yes, they are edible as well as being good companion plants. Though Z might want to leave them to do their job first... hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx (who is just a wee tad jelly green that she can't have such a garden herself...)

I could sure go for some home-grown eggplant right now, but someone would have to come cook it for me.
The garden is coming along great. We've been enjoying ours. We didn't plant any marigolds this year. I did see the skeleton!
We hope that garden yields lots of tasty goodies. We have ONE tomato plant that sits in a "smart" pot on our deck so the rabbits and deer don't get it. Mom has pretty good luck with it for a few years now. Here's hoping this year's brings her lots of yummy tomatoes.

Gosh! Our garden (and the catnip) are woefully behind this year. It has been COLD! We are not complaining though...last year we were over 105 degrees at this time, the river was barely a trickle and this year, the mountains around the village had snow on their tops on Wednesday morning!
