This is our Sea Grape (Coccoloba uvifera). Daddy brought a tiny stick with 3 leaves home from a fishing trip and planted it. That was more than 20 years ago.
Like the Beanstalk about Jack, it grew and grew and grew some more.
I came out from under it
Carrying my new bone.
When I walk around with it in my mouth, I look so cute, but so far Mama is not fast enough to get a photo before I drop it.
She made the one above. The bone is about 20 inches long
The tree was 3 times bigger than the one up above in the first photo and Daddy and his chain saw hacked it down and down.
that was 3 weeks ago, all of these photos are the new growth in 3 weeks. the tree will take over the yard. they love to grow in the river's edge and will grow anywhere at all.
He had no idea the root he planted would become a monster tree that requires yearly trimming.
my new bone that I found, is one of the pieces he cut off and did not find it to put out by the curb.
he was truly shocked when I came out and called mama to come see the dinosaur bone.
I don't care it is not a bone, when I gnaw, it feels like a bone.
Rosey, it doesn't get flowers, but it does get grapes, but not this time of year..
Joining Rosey at LLB in my Back Yard for nature Friday
Hope you like grapes as much as Roses...

I so love that Sea Grape...but wonder would I if I had to live with it. I think I still would.
Beau, that is one heck of a 'bone!'
This bone looks bigger than YOU! Surely Mama MADE this photo! It does look kind of like a human leg bone! I am guessing you cannot eat the grapes, they may even be poisonous.
Hey Beau, what a coincidence! You will see in my post today that thecutting back of trees has also been going on in my back garden this week. I didn't get around to mentioning it in the post, but one happy outcome is a proliferation of 'bones' which I love to grab in my mouth and do not love to drop.
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
ooh you found a real dino bone... that is the canine jackpot ;O)))
Oh I was right. It does make for a good bone.

Yeah, points to Ann and me!!! What an incredible plant though... pretty, but potentially menacing! So glad you got a new toy out of it. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

Love the new growth on the tree. Glad you have a nice big thing to chew on. Enjoy!
Cute story.
I love the treasures you discover in your own back yard!
Lucky pup!
So the "bone" isn't really edible and there's no dinosaur meat, and dogs aren't supposed to eat grapes. We're done here. XOX Xena, Lucy and Chia
Please don't mind my rude dogs. I'm wondering if the tree's roots are close enough and can get through the underground walls of your pool?
Have a wonderful week!
