Remember ME Thursday

Joining Lola the Rescued Cat on Remember Me Thursday
Shine A light on Rescue Shelters

Baby, rescue from Telesis Shelter, Feb 2002, Badly abused by one owner, adopted twice and returned twice, our wonderful Girl afraid to walk past us to go out in the yard, terrified if we touched a stick or waved our arms.
We loved her into our Sweet Girl, I gently touched her back with the straw broom and said
Woo Woo Woo, I love you. Over and over.

Cooper, Feb 2002 Bishop Animal Shelter, left alone when their family left Cooper and his sister, bonded from birth and 7 years old, at the shelter. Cooper left behind broken hearted when someone wanted his sister and not him Left alone an entire year, waiting. Losing his furs from kennel stress.
Within 2 weeks  with our love and his beloved new sister, he was  beautiful and the opposite of stressed.

We were afraid to put them together in the back yard, but they bonded from the first glance and rarely slept apart.
Baby and Cooper Furever in our Hearts

Sheriff Big came with his own STAR

My Beloved Big Boy, rescued from Manatee County Animal Shelter.
We found him locked in the office at the shelter because he was so stressed from being attacked by a dog that a woman left in the outside area because there was NO ROOM in the shelter.
Big was being walked by a volunteer when attacked and had surgery.
We loved him dearly until he died at 7 years old only 2 short years after being adopted.
Our shelter dogs brought So muchJOY to us.
And we brought JOY to them!

There is nothing like the love you will receive from a rescue cat or dog. They need LOVE and forever homes.
Of the six dogs that have been in our lives only One, our Max was loved his entire life by us.
Our other 5 all had multiple owners!
That fact still breaks my heart
Shine the Light On the shelters
Adopt Dogs, Adopt Cats! they Deserve it!

I borrowed that line from Brian who is below with our current Rescue Beau

Beau our current shelter dog and Brian from Brian's Home where 4 rescues and a lot of well cared for feral cats live.

what a beautiful story of furever love.
What I didn't say on my post about Mia and Frisco was they were both found at kill animal shelter. A local animal foster group routinely went to shelters to try to help with adoptions. Unfortunately many of the small shelters in rural counties are under funded and just cannot keep any animal for very long especially the older ones. Mia and Frisco were fortunate

Hello,

They are all beautiful dogs, I am so glad they found a loving home with your Mama and Daddy! Cute doggies and photos. HUGS, enjoy your day!

Great post! I think it is almost a crime to adopt from a pet store! And there should be a law against puppy mills, with stiff fines or even jail time.

My heart is over-flowing!
Were it not for Tom insisting on getting malti-poos ("just like Caraleigh"), I'd be right there.
I know I'm too tender-hearted, but wouldn't let anyone take only one of a bonded pair. How devastating for Cooper!

Did he and Baby come already named?

Each of these precious babies were given the chance to know what love is because of you.

You and your husband do your part and then some making sure senior pups have the very best life. Bless you both.

Have a fabulous day. ♥

Your love for those special pups truly makes my heart smile. Adoptions are just the best for each and every species and we hope it’s the next big thing.

Hi friend, Ojo here! I lived in a shelter too. It was also very full. Before the shelter I lived on the streets. Then I got taken from foster home to foster home.

Now I live with my people. I am the Best Dog Ever! (Aren't we all?) People should definitely think about us Rescue Dogs because we can be very amazing!

I get so upset reading about people who abuse dogs. I'm so glad you found these wonderful dogs and helped them heal and trust again. I will never forget Big Boy. He was a special spirit who lived a far too short life, but made a huge impact, not just on you, but also on those of us who read about him and fell in love with him.

I donate to a shelter in Los Angeles and to Best Friends as well, but not as much since they are now so famous. I did when they first started though. Errol had a knack for finding dogs, and dogs had a knack for finding him on the streets, or at our home, so we didn't adopt any of our many dogs from a shelter. But of all my 12 dogs, I only bought one from a breeder. I was young and wanted a Dalmatian and that's how I got my Troll.

F didn't know until she went to UK that people got cats and dogs from pet stores. She always thought that they either came from a friend whose cat or dog had reproduced, or they simply wandered into your life - like I did. She told me that the cats that used to live in her life in NZ came from a 'rescue' place called SPCA. They were stripy like me too. You are right though - we shouldn't be bought and sold. xxx Mr T

A wonderful testament to shelter dogs and beautiful post and memories of your precious shelter dogs. We only knew Beau, and even to know him from afar was to love him. It's grievous that he had to leave us all so soon. Thank you for sharing.
