I Am A Different Dog than I was

I am a different dog that I was Before Daddy's Knee Surgery

I was bored to death without My Daddy to play with me, Mama got out the Giant Orange Ball and gave it to me.
I ripped and ripped and when she tried to take it, I hung on and we played
Tug Of War for the first time EVER.

I heard Mama say to Daddy, your down time is making Beau play with toys.
With his back leg getting so stiff, he needs to stop running so much. Lets hope he will forget so many ball games and play easier ones
Now when I play ball, I run 2 or 3 times and stop.
And I only do that 2 times not 4 to 6.
Mama is making daddy throw slower and fewer balls, and I am happy with that.
I am part Dane and big dogs have hip problems.
I am going to be 8 years old in October and I heard Mama say it was a mistake to look
up life span of Danes, because she did not like what she read.
But i have a few other breeds mixed in and that might help...
Daddy said don't borrow trouble and
Mama Yelled at him!
Mama is worried about my back legs. Yesterday I fell when I went to get up and then my right leg did not want to go down, she massaged it and gave me my doggy ibuprofen. Today, I chased the ball and fell again and Daddy said it was my left.   I have been on Glucosamine since the day they got me and she even upped the dosage per the vet suggestion, and she keeps the ibuprofen and gave it to me daily for a month to see if it helped and it did..
just something else for her to fret over, but Mama Has Got Me!

Oh my. But Beau, you are EATING the ballcovering! I think you have had enough hard and long ball games to last quite a long time, itis time to slow down a bit now. I think your hips will thank you for it.

We followed a really big German shepherd dog up our street yesterday that was walking so slowly and so collapsed into his hips that his bum nearly dragged on the ground. He didn't look real old and F said we should be very sad for him hurting so badly. I have never been a fan of dogs, but as you are a dog in a picture to me (not real teeth and loudness) I can pretend you are something else - like kind of human. And I want to know, do you actually eat those bits you tear off that ball? Why? What do your insides do to that stuff? Yours in slightly horrifed curiosity, Mr T.

Hello beau,

You do know that the ball is not food for you to eat. It maybe a good idea to slow down, we do not want to see you hurting. HUGS, take care!
Have a happy day!

Beau boy, after a chew, do you spit, like the old cowboy's used to do with their baccy? I think you have seen your daddy slow down and the attention he gets from that sore leg of his... so it's your turn! Seriously, though, we do all have to slow down eventually, wanted or not. We sure hope your legs feel better once you get used to using them again sweet Beau.

We're sorry to hear your back legs aren't working very well, Beau. You look like you're enjoying ripping that ball up. We noticed you were spitting out the pieces you were ripping off just like Walter does when he rips up a toy.

Beau maybe your knee is showing Dad's knee so bit of moral support!!

Oh Beau, I'm so sorry your legs are hurting! Compromising our play time isn't much fun, is it? Thank goodness you have a momma and daddy who love you very, very much and massage your sore muscles.
I'm going to remember the ibuprofen trick for those days our girls over-do things.

It seems everyone's life has changed - but change can be a good thing. So how much ibuprofen do you give him? Maybe he uses the ball to work out his frustration!

I'm glad you are playing a little more by yourself and that the ball games are a little less. Yes big dogs can have hip issues. I agree, don't borrow trouble but we can't help ourselves. They do sell hip braces that might help. Glad the ibuprofen helps.

We are glad that you are slowing down a little. And that you are playing more than just chase. Now if we could get Cinnamon to do that! Heelers are working dogs and Cinnamon's job is to chase balls! Take good care of your Mom Beau, she has not been feeling terrific! A nice big kiss will do her a wonder of good!

Mom says we all have to stop doing certain things as we age, Beau. She doesn't ride motorcycles or play tennis or roller skate any more. But she says she'll ballroom dance until the day she dies! You're a smart pup to slow down a bit on the ball chasing. XOX Lucy and Xena

Your destruction of the ball made Lee proud. Lady also looked up how long to expect Phod to live, and her heart broke a little. Take care sweet Beau

Hi friend, Ojo here! It is our job to keep our humans on their toes... We need to keep mixing things up! Stay well, friend!

Beau we are glad you are finding ways to still have fun and make it a little easier on your body (and your folks too).
