The story you are about to hear is true. The names have not been changed, and the innocent can not be protected, because there is no innocent in this story.
The story is Not Fiction.
This is the neighborhood we live in.
these are the streets we walk.
the streets are lined by thousands of homes 1960's cinder block.
The red blob in above snip from Google Maps is our home
and is the starting point of Beau and his Mama's daily walk.
The red dots are the steps we take,
the big red X's are Stop Signs
we travel through 4 of these Four Way Stops
This is the busiest street.
We walk facing traffic,
this is a need for us, because our world is full of
idiots who poke their phone and aplly makeup while driving.
some will move over for us
others do NOT.
Above we are heading back towards home, approaching our right turn,
we STAY, at the stop sign to the left and on OK we cross the street at a diagonal to the drawn stop sign,
which is the last PEEmail reading of our walk.
with my eyes focused straight in front of me to keep my dizzies away,
my eyes scanning 180 degrees, looking for danger, without turning my head,
I went into Covid Variant Brain Fog and stopped paying attention.
We were walking on auto pilot.
We stopped at Stop Sign,
I said Stay, OK and we walked at the diagonal to the other sign
and Much to my surprise, it was NOT the street to home,
there was a big white house there NOT the red brick house.
Beau had chosen to walk me across, I followed in a daze
we both stood there in shock because we were at the wrong street.
We always walk on the wrong side,
facing traffic.
I started down the side to walk that last block to
the correct street and he balked.
Mama, this is not the right side.
He led me to the other side,
walked to the next 4 Way stop
and we crossed the Right street on the diagonal.
I said to Beau, who is walking whom????
There is a moral to this story.
Mama must stay outside her head and never walk on autopilot.
Two days before this episode,
Walking on autopilot, pondering just what weird patio the new owners were building on the front of their house, I realized I had stopped when Beau stopped,
but in my brain fog did NOT look down to see WHY he stopped!
The fog lifted for a moment and I looked down to find he had eaten half the pile of
vomit left by a drunk leaning out his door in the middle of the street.
I screamed NO! and the good dog stopped.
UGH! Autopilot if fine for planes or boats but NOT for walking with dogs.
Auto Pilot may be ok for planes and boats

O my GOSH!! I hope it did not make him sick! What a story, and I adore your cute little drawings, looks like Aztec style!
We love the drawings. We animals know when you have gone the wrong way - AND when you are driving on the wrong side of the road. Paw smacks Mr T
aaaaaaah!!!! that is the number one on the horror list... it tops even da joggers-bombs and rotten fish... a frind told me to give natural yogurt immediately to cover the smell, but I have so much stuff in my walking bag, there is no room for that... but nevertheless we love that non-fiction story and we know now that all dogs are related somehow...
Gail says: I've always been shocked at how many residential neighbourhoods in the USA (supposedly a civilised country) don't have sidewalks.
Bertie says: But vomit can be delicious, especially when poorly digested and containing lots of meat or cheese..."
Gail says: That's quite enough Bertie.
Gail and Bertie say: We're so glad that you and Beau got home safely. And BTW, we always love a map!
Oh YIKES. Of course Beau was only doing what dogs do but YUCK!!!! I like your drawings on the pictures. It added to your story.
Hello Beau,
You should not eat thing you find out on the ground, they maybe really bad for you. We have to walk on trail in the woods here, we do not have sidewalks.
HUGS, have a happy day!
Ooh, yuk! That last is the best reason to avoid autopilot!

OMD... thank doG you were there, Beau boy - I hate to think of mama walking out there unsupervised in that state!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty (and Hettie) xxx
Beau you and Mom have very interesting walkies.
4 way stops are popping up everywhere. They are fine as long as everyone UNDERSTANDS when it is their turn to go.
Kinda like traffic circles. Folks around never had them now we do and it seems they think they are on a merry go round and just need to jump in whenever.
Hugs Cecilia
That was quite an adventurous walk you two went on. We're glad you made it home safely and hope Beau's snack didn't cause any upset for him.
I hope he didn't get sick! I totally understand about sometimes being on autopilot - lol.
Oh my Beau, that was not the bonus buffet so ignore it if you see it again!
Ohhhh Beau! This reminds me, when I was a little girl coming across the Atlantic ocean, there came such a storm! Most of the ship's passengers stayed below decks in their cabins, but my daddy took me up on deck for some fresh air. It's said he was managing to keep from being sick. Until, I pointed to a 'puddle' and said, "Look daddy! That one has meat in it!"
Tell momma, her map is so much better than those silly 'You Are HERE' signs. Clever girl!
I'm glad mom saved you from that vomit. I laughed out loud. I'm very happy that I know where you walk too.
Have a woof woof day and weekend. My best to your peeps. ♥
I've heard of brain fog following COVID. Apparently Beau has neither COVID or brain fog, luckily for you both. Be careful, Beau's Mom. We want y'all around a long, long time!
Oh my, sorry about the vomit!!! So you don't have sidewalks?
