I am a NO Crate Canine

In October of 1989, Mama bought this crate and sat it in the front bedroom, for Angel Max.
He was 4 years old and did not really need the crate except for when strangers came in the house.

He loved only his parents and their kids. Strangers were not his thing.
Over the years, the crate sat unused until Jake was saved from the streets in 2005
 HIS story HERE.
They used it when they left home, because Baby and Cooper were in the house and they had no idea how they would do home alone with 3 dogs.
When the pawrentz left home, Jake went in the crate.
He and Cooper had a few Set Too's that were scary.
After Cooper died, the only use of the crate was with door open, Jake or Baby would choose to
lay there and watch whomever was at the desk.
Big Boy went in it maybe 4 times, sniffed and left.

I have never been in it and ignored it completely.
As if t were not there.

Aug, 3rd Five Weeks ago, I went out at night for Last Call and when I came in laid down by Mamas side of the bed where I always sleep and then she heard me get up and heard  the rattle of the crate,

She looked across the hall, and I was sleeping in the crate, and since then, every night I start the night in the crate.
Sometimes for hours, sometimes for minutes, then I move to Mama side of the bed or in the walk in closet. I have never slept in the closet before either.

You are trying out new things and experimenting with how you like them! Good for you, Beau!! I guess we will never know why NOW is the time.

wo Beau, that is amazing.... the staff had da crate idea too, they bought a giant thing, probably for a lion, but none of us ever used it... the smartest idea was to use it for the car... the smart mama said it is foldable, so da dad squezzed it in the car and set it up... and then they saw, that there is no way to open the door... either they need a foldable dog too, or the whole thing is a mispurchase... we think the second option is the right one...

I can't believe you would go in a crate when you could be sleeping right next to your Mama. That would not be my choice. I detest crates!

Good for you trying new things. It's a good idea because if we don't try new things we never know what we might be missing.

Hello Beau,

Maybe the crate and the closet are giving you some comfort. The last few weeks have been a stressful time for you, your Mama and Dad. HUGS, take care and enjoy your day!

Interesting! That looks like a mighty comfy mattress!
Beau, are you maybe a little like Macie Ann and like to go lay where the air conditioning feels best on your furs? She started going into the living room by herself a few months ago and that's what we think it is. After 10-15 minutes she comes strolling back and takes her usual spot next to me.

PS - Funny, it just occurred to me, the girls' travel crate is sitting right here next to my desk, too. Grace used to like to sit in it when I'd be on the computer, but now I think it's too warm.

It's interesting how you started to use that crate all on your own, Beau. We're not fans of crates but did use them when we were younger.

It sounds like you're trying out all the different places to sleep during the night. I hope you find the one that you'll be most comfy in. I vote for the one next to you mama.

Fascinating Beau..Always keep Mama on her toes.
There is definite security in that crate and the closet.
Maybe it's helping your stress level while your Daddy is a bit out of commission.

Yes, you do have a beautiful head, and you deserve to have secrets if you want them. I have mine too. 😊

Sunny sleeps in her "room" every night Beau. Mama says the "den instinct" is strong in her. Maybe it is strong in you too??

Sometimes you need to try out sleeping in closets. I know your mom loves it, but she likes it more when you sleep with her.

I hope dad's feeling better.

Have a woof woof day, Beau. My best to your mom. ♥

You knows we puppers like to have our own den! It's just our thingie! Ma had to close the door to my crate, cause I would dig at the sides, and she for some reason didn't like that...whatevs. (I have a travel crate with mostly solid sides with windows 😉) Butts, I thinks it's a sign that you are REALLY makin' yourself at home, nesting and denning and stuffs. I move around all the times at night too! BOL!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
pees: sorry I've missed all the posties ~ Ma decided to clean out the whole house! sigh. super duper boring fursure! 😘

Beau, we all voted and we think you had a visit by Angel Lexi. Her kennel was in the walk-in closet, and she had a dog bed in the bedroom and also slept in the big bed with our folks. She would make the rounds for sleeping in each every night. Anyhoo, if that's what happened, we also think you couldn't have a better mentor on it than Angel Lexi! XOX Xena and Lucy

Cinnamon NEVER EVER went down into the basement. When she was a puppy, she fell down them and that was it! When we lived in Vancouver, the townhouse had 3 flights of stairs and Cinnamon loved to chase her balls up and down them. Then we moved back. Cinnamon still ignored the basement until this summer, then she started going downstairs and sleeping in Alex's Man cave. She goes down at least once a day! Maybe there is something in the air?

Hi friend, Ojo here! Again, we need to keep the humans on their toes by mixing this up and keeping them guessing! Crate sleeping - good one!
