Hi, I hope you all missed me! Mama got 5 of the list of 7 things done but we both missed reading your blogs.
Here is Mama with her rant...
Beaus Dog food, is ordered from Amazon, and the 30 lb bag is dumped on our
porch the next day.
Every 5 weeks, for 7 months, the price was $31.99
I went to click buy now and saw $44.94
WHAT? I last ordered April 28, so up over 13.00 in one month?
Google Search said PetSmart, $31.99.
I said to Bob, we need to go to PetSmart, you have to go with me, I can't pick up that bag.
AND then I noticed it said Choose Pickup in store today, use app to tell us you are here and we will bring it to your car.
YAY
I quickly signed up for the pickup thingy, and received 1000 points for doing so, which means when I ordered, I got 2.50 cents off, which covered our state tax
I clicked place order and Instantly I received the above email, and yelled down the hall, Bob, it says
Sit, Stay.. we will let you know when to pick it up, will be under 3 hours.
1/2 hour later, I get the below email.
and with delight I yelled down the hall,
Bob, PetSmart just said
COME!
You can stay home, they will put it in the car
The app has a I AM HERE button.
Stay in car with trunk open...
I downloaded app .
THEN
Bob decided to go with me, we took Beau to hang out the window and
when we got there the app said I had wrong password
.
I walked inside and it was sitting by the door, I said to girl at the register, picking up dog food for Beau and she pointed me to it, already in a small basket by the door.
I pushed it out nd Bob put it in the trunk.
Now to the RANT part
Amazon is price gouging. Not just on dog food. I have noticed many items have gone up by a few dollars since I last ordered, but the pool supplies are in short supply now.
Walmart and Home Depot pool supplies are almost empty shelves, so I checked the prices.
Per the stockers I chat with at Walmart, their shelves are empty because they have no truck drivers to deliver and on anything with chlorine in it, it is in short supply.
Walmart had a limit of 2 only per customer, but their price was 22.96 as always.
Same thing on Amazon was 48.00
all of this is to say, check your prices where ever you buy, they are all doing it.
I found one item that was 45.00 at Home Depot and 28.00 at Amazon.
this means Depot only has a few, and Amazon has a lot.
Now we may have to start hoarding pool chemicals and dog food instead of Toilet Paper
Yes, I did check Chewy and it was 31.99 PLUS shipping and would take 3 days.
Just Sayin, check your prices.

Good grief, what NEXT? Toilet paper,hand wipes, and now pool stuff! Also I hear chicken is in short supply and more costly now. Thanks for the tips, I would never have known! I do know about a month or so ago, we could not get canned cat food. All the sotres had signs on the empty shelves apologizing. Never did find out why, but it is back now.

That's quite the rant, mama Sandra! I have always price-compared when buying anything. Quite often Amazon is cheaper, but there are also plenty of times that smaller and or more local companies can compete. In UK, prices are rising anyway on everything because of that thing called Brexit... yeeech..... now there's a rant I could have...

That's a crazy difference in price. At work I do the ordering for the bakery and every week there are at least 6 items that I don't get and my invoice says "manufacturer out". Some will say "long term manufacturer out". I'm wondering if it's just because they don't have enough workers to run all the lines to make the products. At least they haven't been raising their prices though.

Your Mama is smart to check prices, that was a huge increase for one month.
Amazon can be cheaper if other places are charging for shipping.

The shortages just get more crazy by the day and everything is getting so expensive! I'm glad you're back. :)
Some thing we're going to have hyper inflation that will raise prices 20%. I think it's happening now. Yes buyer beware.

You're looking good, Beau. It's always good to comparison shop. If you ordered two bags from Chewy you would qualify for free shipping and would only have to order it half as often.
I agree with you that Amazon is price gouging - on some things I get too - now I price compare too.
We love PetSmart. They give coupons too.
YIKES that is for sure a price hike. We have heard from cat owners either about price hikes or shortage especially in canned food. Something to do with the last year's issues shortages in packaging.

Wow ... those are some significant differences! Good advice about checking and double-checking.
We've been using Chewy for all the girls' food; and because our 'every 5 weeks' auto delivery is greater than $45 we get 5% off and free 2-day delivery. Funny thing: Tom brought in the box last evening and stuck it out in the sun room. This morning I went to unpack and realized their case of canned food was missing and in it's place this huge bag of dry cat food. I shot off a message to Chewy and just got what sounded like a sincere apology. They're sending out the rigth stuff and asked that I donate the cat food to our local shelter.
Hi friend, Ojo here! That sounds very complicated. We Dogs have enough on our plates worrying about Balls, squirrels, and the right place to leave pee markings!
We have seen Amazon prices rising also...it really is sad when companies try to take advantage of consumers!!
We noticed that about Amazon quite a while ago, and things are going to be a mess for a while now. Fingers crossed they settle down soon.
Yes, we agree with your rant. We only buy from Amazon if we can't find it ANYWHERE else. Did you know that PetSmart owns Chewy?
Read a lot of news, and business news and yes: many shortages but also some issues in the trucking industry. Lack of drivers to move products from manufactures to retailers. Just in general, it will be a long time before the economy stabilizes throughout the entire "chain" and during that slow process that consumer is going to take the hit. Doing wise shopping and price comparisons, whether to buy online or local is about all one can do right now as it is all changing day by day.
Thanks for the heads up. That's a lot of money difference. I'll start being more aware, instead of assuming one is usually less in certain items.
Yes I missed you Beau :) We're checking more and more into Walmart. Amazon prices are way too expensive. Please thank Mom for all her great information.
