Wordy Wed with mama and me

My Mama is a talker, she has been called a "Chatty Cathy" although her name is NOT Cathy. Her name is Mama
Mama  will give you two examples.
Go ahead Mama, its all yours. Gab On Mama!

When the 3 fence repair guys came through the gate, I was talking a mile a minute to them, and the tall guy with the beard said
"are you from here?"
"no, born and raised in Savannah"
" I knew it, I picked up that accent the minute you started talking. I am from South Carolina, across the river from Savannah and also Louisiana"
that started a conversation that lasted the whole time they were here. I was so backed up from missing talking to strangers during the pandemic, I could not stop talking,
Big enjoyed being petted, I enjoyed TALKING.
On one of our extra walks during Beaus Non Yard Adventures, we walked on a street we have not been on before and turned the curve and there stood two construction crew men in their bright green vests.
As we drew closer, Beau headed toward them to be petted, I held back because a lot of people are afraid of Big dogs.
The one guy said OH LOOK AT YOU!
At first I thought he meant the 76 year old, no makeup, with scraggly hair.
He said can I pet him? (that was my clue he was talking to Beau) ha ha
We approached and while petting Beau, he said can he have a bite of my cookie?
He was holding one of those oatmeal cookie with white icing between the 2 cookies.
I wanted the whole thing, but said Yes, he can have a bite
He gently took the bite and the man said can he have another bite?
the other man said What a great dog, and held his hand out to smell and Beau said You have no cookie?
Any way he got a second pet, 2 bites of cookie and
MAMA GOT TO TALK TO STRANGERS
As we walked towards home it occurred to me, if the man had Covid then Beau and I had been exposed.
After the fact! But I did get to TALK and it has been 4 days and we are not sick yet.
I also entertained myself by thinking of what the two young men discussed about the crazy old lady that talked their heads off.
Butt, they did talk back, maybe one of them was a "Chatty Carl"
When I left the state of my childhood I sounded
like this video. To hear Louisiana or Georgia search for it on Youtube

This is a video of Mountain Talk and I lived in Kentucky from age 10 to 15 and Georgia my other years.

Did you really talk like this? But you don't now. How and why did it change? I thought that people who grew up in a certain place always had the accent of it. Your voice is so soft, smooth, and pretty. Good thing, because you talk to so many people.

My mother's name was really Cathy, but she wasn't so talkative.
And you mom, you have to be careful who you talk to before getting vaccinated!

The evidence seems to be that talking outside, so long as you are not too close, is relatively safe. But Beau you must tell you Mama to take care nonetheless.
Toodle pip!

How nice to get out and enjoy the fresh air and get to talk to people. That's the best part of going to work for me. I get to see other people and I can have 2 sided conversations.

You two are as bad as my husband! He went outside and shook hands and talked to a new neighbor for a half an hour, face to face, no masks on. I was so mad at him, he said he forgot. How do you forget something like that after all this time?!!

Hang on to your Kentucky/Georgia accent...as tightly as I do my NC accent
they are quickly becoming extinct

We're glad your mom was able to enjoy talking to all those people, Beau. It's been a tough year and as long as she is outside and not shoulder to shoulder with them you are probably safe. We bet you enjoyed all those pets and especially that cookie.

What a super encounter ... both for both of you! I like how the one fellow was polite and asked before giving Beau his cookie. That video is SO neat. Here, I thought small-town Alabama had the neatest citizens, but this has got me wanting to visit that mountain. I nearly fell off my chair when that lady said living in Washington DC was like being in Hell with her back broke. Hey, I still say "plumb" from time to time!

Nothing wrong with being a Chatty Cathy.

Have a fabulous day. Scritches to Beau. ♥

Our Mom says she is sure happy we were back in Midway when the Covid started. Even though Dad died right at the beginning of it, the village is so small and everybody knows everybody else and everybody walks and everybody talks!

Ha - Beau - your Mama should be a standup comic - she is great!!! Our Mom IS a Kathy with a K, but she loved her Chatty Cathy doll when she was little:)

Yes, I've noticed that everyone seems to want to talk more. I have one guy in the congregation where I work who has started calling me and talking my ear off during the work day. Or he calls the other lady in the office and talks for an hour. As far as accents, I can't even imagine you sounding like that! Accents do change. I came here to Chattanooga area from PA many years ago. I still don't sound quite southern, but I don't sound like folks from PA anymore, either!
