The shadow is the umbrella I was holding in one hand while holding the cell phone in the other hand. Trying to push the button on the phone to take the photo. When the sun is so bright, the screen is useless on the cell phone, can't see a thing. The umbrella shaded it and I could see the screen but had no hand to touch the screen... Rose suggested one of those umbrealla hats, but we both decided they are to small..... While telling you this story, it seems The Big Guy fell asleep. AGAIN

Too funny! He fell asleep while being scared! The umbrella is a great idea. Although you always do a great job of shooting blind.

Great idea with the umbrella. Now if you only had one more hand. Taking a cell phone picture with one hand is not easy

Oh I have many a time had to wrangle brolly and camera - but mine have all been the golfing type with long and sturdy handles, which enables tucking between the elbow (under) and shoulder/neck (over) to balance it, leaving both hands free...

Great thinking outside the box! Not being able to see my screen drives me nuts, too. You'd think manufacturers could incorporate a little pop-up canopy -- or, at least make an accessory canopy you could clip onto the top of your phone.
You do need one of those umbrella hats!

You would think he would be used to having his picture taken by now. Or maybe he is, and that's why he can fall asleep while you are fiddling around trying to get a shot, right?
