My story of The Mother's day Visitor....
I heard Daddy shout Samar, (my Mom's nickname),Come LOOK AT THIS. NOW~
She raced outside, I was running around like a mad dog, side to side, end to end to the pool... LOOK Mama, what is that? LOOK Daddy what is that?
This was the only HANDY pic of our pool, and mama found the BABY MALLARD DUCK on the internet... It was brigh yellow and black stripes and the size to fit on the palm of daddy's hand.
I was BAD, so says the pawrentz... Mama said COME and I did not, I wanted that yellow thing that was swimming like greased lightning. DIVE DIVE, every time I almost Got it.
Mama finally dragged me by the collar and slammed the door locking me insidd. I stood and watched. Daddy said where is he, he can't get out. Where did he go. Mama walked over the the round thing that water runs throuhg and lifted the lid.. the little Mallard was stuck in there and half drowned and really looked like he was in shock...
The duck was fast, the dog was bad, so mama could not get good pics, which made her sad.
She did get 3 of the tiny Mallard in Daddy's hand. He sat him in the edge of the yard and after a couple of minutes it rushed off under the fence, got trapped in the wires at the bottom, daddy untrapped and it was gone. We all hope he found Mr and Mrs Mallard.
the insert is borrowed from Google Images but looks exactly like it did in the water. |

A dandy story! I am getting to love my bedtime stories here. I can visualize him well, we have many baby mallards all over the place. Mallards and Canada Geese are everywhere. The mallards sit in our yard waiting for tidbits. Good thing you found his hiding place, he would have died! Hopefully Mama was somewhere near...where is the nearest pond?
wow, that was exciting. Poor little duck wasn't having a very good time though was he. I wonder what kind of trouble he found himself in once he left your yard.
Hello,
I am so glad mama was able to rescue the baby Mallard. It is so cute.
I hope it's family is still around. Enjoy your day!

Gracious me, Big Boy, that was a bit of excitement for efurrybuddy, eh? Maybe not so much the duckling. At least it was given another chance by your pawrents - I just hope it found its way home. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
OH BB that is just way over the top adorable.
I've never seen a mallard quite that little
Hugs Cecilia
That was interesting - hope he found his mama - you had a lot going on in a matter of seconds!
My heart!!! I love your quick thinking and tender response. Not only do y'all have amazing luck with mango plants but saving lives, too.
I too hope he found his way to his peeps. Dad did a great job.
Have a woof woof day and weekend, BB. My best to your peeps. ♥
We sure hope that wee one found its family, poor little thing.
OMD, I can't believes your momma called you bad for diving in to try to help the little ducky! I'm glad that they got him out, though I'm SURE you would've done a better job.
You could write a book...the adventure of ??, the baby mallard. My mind is blank as to a good name for a baby Mallard. A blog friend had one she called Muriel.
Poor little baby duck. I hope he finds his mom and dad, he's way too little to be out on his own.
That was an exciting adventure. We hope the little fellow found his family.
Oh my, I hope he's okay! Cute little fella.
What an exciting morning you had BB...we have never seen a baby duck before. Rosy has seen a grown up duck...and said it was pretty scary. We sure hope baby mallard found its parents!!
xoxo,
Rosy, Jakey & Arty
Oh, my, that warm day swim didn't quite work out for the little duckling. Good thing your folks were there to rescue him, BB.
Hailey might have left the duck alone only because she hates water. What an adventure.
