Midnight Whine of Big Revere

Hi, my Mom says tell you My Big News. I held my pee for 15 hours. She will tell you the story below.

For the past 4 weeks, we have been inundated with scattered thunderstorms, every single day, morning, noon and night. Big Booms and Flashes that last from 15 minute to 45 minutes.

Saturday night I heard the Midnight Whine of Big Revere! at the stroke of Midnight, BOOM! Flash! BOOM Flash! WHINE! we have a canine town storm crier.

Big kept whining/whimpering and I thought he was saying

One If by land, two if by sea... I hate storms, Oh Woe is Me!
20 minutes and it was gone.

Monday, lines of storms marched over us, Big peed/pooped at 4 am before the storms. We managed a walk and Big peed at 7 am and 12 and did not again until 5 am Tuesday.  Just so you know, he went out in the drizzle at 3 and 7:30 pm and stood in the rain with Daddy. It seems the fear of thunder stops his aiblity to pee...  He will go out in the rain and just stand there.

The storms marched over to the East coast, we live on the West coast of Florida. at 4 pm, the weather guy said, I have never seen this before, the line of storms is COMING BACK, they always go from coast to coast and either into the Gulf or Atlantic. OH NO! I said

Last night we had a 40 minute that lasted until 9 pm...With relief Big and I went to sleep after a BIG ahhh its over.

At 2 AM The walls shook, the floor rattled and for 2 hours and 10 minutes a Cell of lightning Stalled right on top of our house. It was so scary we allowed Big to get on the bed. NO! that did not work. He just paced on the bed. Although We do live in the lightning capital of the USA. It is rare for it to stall on us. this weather pattern is forecast as far out as we can see, which is 7 days....

share your canine storm stories please.

Oh NO! I will pray that nothing there gets struck! We were friends with a blind lady who had a big guide dog. When there was a loud thunderstorm, he got into the bathtub. Then he pulled the shower curtain down, and rolled himself up in it.

That was one horrible storm! I know how scary they are for dogs Big, for people too. We had a doozy of a thunderstorm tonight too. It was the worst one this year.

it was during one those terrible boomeries that Jade learned a trick by accident that she choose to use from then on... Like the lady's dog that Ginny mentioned, Jade got herself into the bathroom and jumped into the bathtub. I went through because - well, y' know - and as I was attending my business, Jade let loose with hers. I was then able to easily wash it away. When she realised there were no tellings off for having done this, it became her own private emergency toilet! Smart pup. We do not have the noise, but getting almost endless rain. Crazy climate. YAM xx

Storms can be scary enough for us and we understand what is going on. I can't imagine how terrifying they are for the fur babies. I've only ever had one dog who was afraid of thunder and lightning and that didn't develop until he was rather old.

Poor BB, that thunder can sound so loud and scary. One of my old dogs Daisy was scared of the thunder. She would hide in my hubby's closet behind his shirts. One day we couldn't find her because she hid so well, she just poked her head out between some shirts. I have had some dogs that would not go outside when it was raining. I wish there was a way to help you feel better during these bad storms.

Poor Big and poor you! We did have a collie that was terrified of storms. We went somewhere after work one evening, it was sunny and bright and not a sign of a storm in sight. It stormed while we were gone, maybe gone an hour and a half. Came home and she had somehow got locked in the bathroom. The draweres were comepletely out of the vanity. I still don't know how she did that. Every towel in there had a rip in it. And the linoleum was torn up in a place or two.

Forgot to say our last dog was not afraid of storms, but did not like the wind howling in the winter...when it howled, I had to lay on the couch and she would lay right against the couch and be satisfied. The other dog that was afraid of storms...nothing comforted her.

Our Jakey is so very happy we moved out of Texas, where we got stormed on...a bunch! During a thunderstorm he would wrap himself around my neck. Poor guy!

Luckily we have hardly any thunderstorms in California. We hope the weatherperson is wrong and the storms move out of your area real soon!

Ohhhh no! Do you think one of those canine thunder jackets would help ... or, if it's just a gimmick? They don't do anything for his poor eardrums. :(
Macie and Grace aren't particularly bothered (knock wood) but I literally have to carry them outside when it rains. Hey, you've just given me an idea -- to erect a canopy tent on that empty patch outside the sun room. Maybe.....

Oh my, that's way too many storms! We don't get many thunder and lighting storms although we had a winter with rain.

Oh WOW! Those storms do sound HUGE! It has been a long time since we had a storm.....several years! We occasionally get a clap of thunder or two.

Lady says just go look at the blog for how Miss Lee does in storms. She won't always hold her pee, she will look for a safe place to go in the house . . .

Our sister Lily of Blessed Memory used to try to squeeze into the 2 inch crack between the stove and the cupboard.
